What is Panchakarma?

Panchakarma is a unique detoxification and rejuvenation therapy in Ayurveda. It consists of five powerful cleansing treatments that help eliminate toxins, balance the doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha), and restore overall health.

Why Panchakarma?

Due to poor diet, stress, pollution, and an unhealthy lifestyle, toxins (Ama) accumulate in the body, leading to diseases. Panchakarma removes these toxins and rejuvenates the body at a deep level, promoting long-term wellness.

The Five Therapies of Panchakarma

1. Vamana (Therapeutic Emesis - Vomiting Therapy)

Purpose: Removes excess Kapha dosha, treating respiratory issues, obesity, and skin diseases.

Process: Special medicated drinks are given to induce vomiting and cleanse the stomach.

2. Virechana (Therapeutic Purgation - Detox Through the Bowels)

Purpose: Eliminates excess Pitta dosha, benefiting the liver, skin, and digestive system.

Process: Herbal laxatives flush out toxins through controlled purging.

3. Basti (Medicated Enema Therapy)

Purpose: Balances Vata dosha, benefiting arthritis, constipation, and neurological disorders.

Process: Herbal oils or decoctions are administered via the rectum to cleanse the colon.

4. Nasya (Nasal Cleansing Therapy)

Purpose: Clears toxins from the head and neck region, treating sinusitis, migraines, and mental stress.

Process: Herbal oils are instilled in the nostrils, followed by massage and steam therapy.

5. Raktamokshana (Blood Purification Therapy)

Purpose: Removes impurities from the blood, treating skin disorders, hypertension, and infections.

Process: Bloodletting is done using leeches or specialized techniques.
